From Kuala Lumpur to Muar is about 150km, and distance from Malacca is about 45km & Singapore is 179km. Muar is one of the ancient town, there is about 130 years of history, is also named as "Bandar Maharani". The meaning of Muar is river and with the pronounciation of muak and mu'ar. Muak is also a Malay word which means rowing the boat till get bored ot it, in the hisotry there is a record of it. and for mu'ar is actually an Indian language, which means crooked river. Maharani is actually queen, so you are stepping a queen town.This place is suitable for small trip. The town is peaceful, clean and very historical. The marks from the war are still there, distinctive buildings from Malays, Arabian style, Nyonya's temple style, accesories from the straits, and also classic western design. This place is filled with history.
When you come to Muar, you will definitely pass by a Muar's bridge, then after that you can see the clock tower. The whole town's road is not complicated, the roads are divided by from Chinese saying" Number 1 to 6" roads. They divide them by area, so it's easier to recognize. If by walking, you can walk half of the town for just half a day.
